Dinner
At the table, nothing is what it seems.
Originally conceived as Maneaters, Dinner presents an ironic lense which transforms personal histories into scenes of consumption. Animals devour male figures— each creature symbolizing the behaviors, dynamics and emotional patterns of former partners.
Across painting, casting, found objects, video, and mixed media, recurring imagery of animals, fruit, TV dinner constructs a theatrical landscape of satire and symbolic storytelling.
Camp, humor, and discomfort coexist as beauty collides with the grotesque as Venturini and Springford construct a world of indulgence, desire, and excess—one that examines the spectacle of femininity and the absurd rituals of appetite.
Dinner invites viewers to sit at the table and confront absurdity, vulnerability, and power embedded within the act of consumption.
